Message From the Principal

Dear Robinson Parents,

I hope everyone had a great summer. I wanted to take this time to introduce myself to the new families in Robinson community. I have been in education for many years. In fact, my first teaching job was in third grade. I spent fourteen years as a teacher and administrator in the Torrance Unified School District before moving to Manhattan Beach Middle School twelve years ago. I believe strongly in the importance of working as a team to develop well-rounded children who thrive in academics, citizenship, and the arts. I will work with you to integrate the assets of our larger community into a program that meets the needs of all students at Robinson.  Building a connected community of support around our students is at the heart of my philosophy, and I look forward to continuing this approach at Robinson. I am out with the students before school, recesses, lunch, and after school as much as I can be. I also try to spend as much time in the classrooms as I can. My decisions start first and foremost with the kids.

I am excited for the new school year to start next week.  As most of you know, I attended Robinson Elementary, Center Jr. High, and Mira Costa. It was so wonderful last year, wandering through the halls of Robinson and reliving so many special memories. I have also enjoyed getting to know so many of you over the summer. Since many of you have had kids go through the middle school, I feel like we already know each other.  I look forward to meeting the rest of you as the year progresses.

On a personal note, I have four grown kids, all college grads with jobs. I have six grandkids ages 6 months to 5 years. Last November I had a second surgery for my brain implants that help control some of the affects of my Parkinson’s. In my spare time I like to support MBUSD athletics and performing arts programs. I really enjoy when I get to pull my instrument out and play with the band. I have season tickets to USC football games and an annual pass to Disneyland.

There are so many amazing things happening at Robinson. I know the students, parents, and staff are committed to creating the best school possible.  I am anxious to get started learning together.

Go Riptides!
