If you registered to vote by mail, you should receive ballots this week that will include Measure MB. If approved by 66.7% of the voters, Measure MB would provide Manhattan Beach schools with approximately $2.6 million per year to retain high-quality teachers and maintain manageable class sizes; protect quality math, science, reading, language, social studies, art/music programs; preserve advanced programs in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); continue to prepare students for top colleges and careers; and provide adequate instructional materials and classroom supplies. The measure would levy an annual $225 flat tax per parcel for six years that would provide stable, reliable revenue for our schools. None of the funds can be used for administrator salaries or pensions. Manhattan Beach property owners age 65 or older may be eligible for an exemption from this payment if they choose. More information is available here. For more information on Measure MB, call (310) 318-7345, ext 5944 or email ParcelTax@mbusd.org.
