Weekly Update from our Principal

Dear Riptides,

Thank you for coming to Back-to-School Night.  This was my first opportunity to see our teachers present to parents and I was so impressed with the level of professionalism and dedication they show.  I am a lucky leader, for sure!  I enjoyed meeting many of you and I look forward to a time when I know every child, every parent, and every family. Robinson is truly a special place and I am reminded of this every day!

I want to apologize for the delay in getting our library ready for business.  We’re doing a little redecorating to accommodate our reading specialist and adding an area where teachers can access resources. There will even be resources for parents to check out!  Riptide students will begin visiting the library on Tuesday, 9/4 and students in grades 3-5 may begin checking out books. We are still awaiting some shelves to complete the remodel and when they arrive on 9/22, we will need some volunteers to help out.  If you’re available to lend a hand on 9/22, please send me an email

Some exciting news…Our 4th and 5th grade students will now be having a fine arts class once a week on Wednesdays.  Our art teacher, Bill Aherns, will work with our students on the California Art Standards and students will have opportunities to work with various mediums and genres.  We are thankful to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) for sponsoring this exciting program.

I hope you are having a wonderful long, Labor Day weekend.  I will see you on Tuesday!

Warmly,
Jackie O'Sullivan, Principal
